I’ve had the idea for this tutorial in my head for ages and have finally been able to film it. This is the perfect makeup look for spring and summer because of its bright colours, but also great to wear on a cold and dreary day to add some cheer!
Rainbows are fascinating things and never fails to extract an excited gasp from me whenever I see it sweeping across the sky. There is something about it that is just so magical and beautiful (no wonder the Double Rainbow Dude freaked out – it’s just so intense!!)
I wanted to capture the enchanting colours of the rainbow on my eyes and I wanted to keep the whole look soft and cute – hence the name ‘Candy Rainbow’. I used pink eyeshadow instead of red as red is a bit too harsh. I then simply followed the order of the rainbow and applied a matching eyeshadow shade to a different section of my eye, making sure I blended each colour into the next.
For the rest of my face, I used a Barbie pink blush on my cheeks (applying sparingly) and a mineral illuminiser to highlight my cheeks and the bridge of my nose.
For my lips, I mixed together two of my OCC Lip Tars – Interlace (subtle peach neutral) and Trollop (pink cranberry coral) This resulted in a gorgeous soft pink lipcolour, which I applied with a lipbrush.
Watch out for my review on Lip Tars sometime soon cos I’m totally obsessed with them!
And finishing off the post with some photos of my colourful rainbow nails! It’s a fun, quirky way to add some pops of colour.
A simple white shirt like the one I’m wearing complements the makeup nicely. With this look, make sure you keep the colours in your outfit to a minimum so that it doesn’t take the focus away from your rainbow eyes.

I seem to say this at the start of all my recent posts but…sorry for the lack of updates! Guess my previous promise of getting organised didn’t work (sigh!) but I really did have a crazy couple of weeks. I was interstate (Gold Coast and Sydney) two weekends in a row so it was difficult to find time to film or blog
Now getting right into talking about the makeup look! I actually wore this makeup to a birthday party last year and have been meaning to turn it into a tutorial for long time now. This glam makeup look is inspired by the colours of the leopard and coincidentally, goes perfectly with leopard print clothing!
Because this is a dramatic look, I used a darker colour to define my brows. Make sure you prime your eyes well for this look as you want the shimmery eyeshadow colours to really show up strongly. I used shades of gold, bronze and shimmery brown on my lids and lined my eyes with a black gel liner (with a dramatic wing at the end) and also I added a pair of full false lashes. I used a matte beige blush to contour my cheeks and I also contoured my nose for more definition. I finished off the look with carefully applied raspberry lipstick (I used raspberry instead of red because I found red to be too bright)
I also added a fun little fashion segment in this video by showing how to style 3 leopard print pieces – a dress, skirt and top.
I personally love leopard print (I even have a leopard print Snuggie!) because I feel that it can add instant glam and sexiness.
The key to pulling off leopard print is to keep the whole look balanced. Too much leopard print can make you look…well, like a leopard. Although I can probably get away with this crazy outfit in Japan…hmmmmmm
Look #1 – Leopard print dress
This is a one-shoulder leopard print dress I bought from FEMME Connection last year and I paired it with a black lace bangle.
I actually wear the same pair of shoes with all the outfits, just a simple pair of black suede platform pumps that looks great with anything. I bought them from Rubi Shoes but just a warning – they are not very comfy!
Look #2 – Leopard print skirt
I paired my Zara flared leopard print skirt with a black fitted t-shirt from Cotton On – I’m keeping the look balanced with the simple top.
Look #3 – Leopard print top
This sheer leopard print top from Supre is one of my wardrobe favourites! Styling the leopard print top is the opposite to the skirt, this time, keep the bottoms simple.
For a business chic look, I paired it with a fitted black skirt. And for a casual chic look, I switched to a pair of black high-waisted jeans. Both the skirt and the pants are from Supre (now you know where I like to shop!)

Here (finally!) is my blog post on my ‘beautifully bohemian’ makeup look! I blame full-time work for the constant neglect of my blog. As enjoyable as work is – I just feel so drained when I get home everyday that all I wanna do is crawl into bed (which is what I end up doing most nights)!
But I promise to be more motivated from now on! In fact, I am planning to film 2 makeup tutorials over the long Easter weekend and pump out a few more blog posts along the way (wish me luck!).
This makeup look is inspired by a mixture of boho and hippie styles, as well as the gorgeous shades of greens and browns found in nature. I wanted the overall look to feel ‘free-spirited’ but also glam and luxe.
I mainly used brown and green eyeshadow and added a hint of gold in the corners of the eyes. The green eyeshadow on the lower waterline completes the eye makeup beautifully.
To keep the focus on the eyes, I kept the rest of the face simple with some bronzer, highlight and soft nude lipstick.
Being the lazy person that I am, I decided to leave my hair straight for this look but I think it would look better with big loose waves (but hey I don’t have a large barrel curler so there’s my excuse!).
When I think of boho style, I think of headbands across the forehead. I used a thin brown plait headband from Diva and I clipped 3 flowers on one side (flowers are also from Diva). The ginormous brown feather earrings are from Equip – in hindsight I probably should have chosen a different shade for the earrings as these almost blended into my hair!
I painted my nails green with O.P.I’s ‘Green-Wich Village’ and worn two large rings to amp up the glam factor. Both rings are a crazy $4 from Diva when they were having a massive sale (click here to read the full Diva jewellery haul!).
For the boho outfit, I wore a flowy, floral maxi dress I bought from a local clothing store a few summers ago (the tag says ‘Maxim’). It’s one of those dresses you just wanna spin around in. I emphasised the waist with a brown plait belt from Supre (one of my favourite belts that can be worn with all sorts of outfits) and slipped on a pair of brown flower sandals from Valleygirl.
Vests fit the boho style very well and since I couldn’t chose between these two vests - I wore them both in the video!
Both vests are from Valleygirl (they often have cute vests!) – the denim vest is more stylish whereas the knitted vest is more typically hippie and boho.
And here’s what the outfit looks like with both vests. I think I am leaning towards the denim jacket – which look do you prefer?
Now, time for some gratuitous shots of me looking (or attempting to look) the part of a free-spirited, nature lovin’ bohemian girl.
Here I am with my boho (or is it more ‘hobo’?) doggies – Ebbie and Annie! I love both of their expressions here – eyes closed and taking in the sounds and smells of nature. Nawww…

After a hectic (in a good way) start to the year with my new job at bellabox, I found it very difficult to find time to film videos. Weekends fly by and before I know it, the entire month of January went by without any tutorials (bad Lulu!)!
Luckily after reading so many warm and encouraging messages on my announcement video, I had faith that my wonderful subbies would understand my lack of video uploads and still support me. I am also hoping to manage my time better and try and film one video a week. *FIGHTING*!
I know I had been talking about doing this Twiggy makeup look for ages and I finally got around to filming it!
Before I get into the makeup look, I just wanted to briefly talk about who Twiggy is, for those who are not familiar with her and her look (very silly of me not to explain in the actual video!).
Twiggy (Lesley Lawson) was a famous model in the 60′s. She was know for her short hair, big eyes, long eyelashes and thin build, hence the nickname ‘Twiggy’. But in today’s day and age, you might know her as one of the judges on Cycles 5-9 of America’s Next Top Model (one of my guilty pleasures).
Twiggy’s iconic MOD makeup look has always fascinated me, I mean, she totally invented the drawn-on lower lashes! Not too mention her look has inspired many of today’s makeup looks, such as BoA’s makeup in her ‘Game’ MV (you can watch my tutorial of it here).
The highlight of this makeup look is of course the eyes, with the two key elements being the dramatic crease and the drawn-on lower lashes.
I only blended the black crease out slightly because it is meant to look strong. Please note that I obviously have a very different facial structure to Twiggy and my crease is not very deep, that’s why the drawn crease is not clearly seen when I open my eyes.
The most fun but also the most difficult part of this look is drawing on the lower eyelashes. I used a very fine liquid liner but you can also use gel liner with a very thin brush if you prefer. You would need to have steady hands and lots of patience because mistakes will happen! If you mess up, simply dip a cotton bud in some eye makeup remover and wipe away any mistakes. After drawing the long lashes, I added in some shorter lashes in between to make it look a little more natural.
I finished off the look with some blush to contour, illuminator and a peach lipstick (dabbed with fingertips for a more subtle colour).
Twiggy’s short hair was as iconic to her overall look as her makeup and her physical build. She mostly wore her hair short in a smooth, simple side-part, tucked behind her years.
As I have long hair (and a blonde bob wig looked ridiculous on me – trust me, I tried!), I decided to fake it by simply side-parting it and tied it in a low ponytail (smoothing it with lots and LOTS of hairspray). From from on, I looked like I had a short bob! If you really wanted to go all the way, you can even tuck and pin your pony tail into your own hair!
Being famous in the 60′s, Twiggy naturally modeled many 60′s style outfits, such as velvet mini dresses with lace-collars and matching cuffs, wide tent dresses and culottes.
I guess the dress I wore for this look can be called a tent dress, as it is quite shapeless. It also had a 60′s inspired collar which was very suitable. I actually bought this on sale at a local clothing store, not only was it perfect for this video, but it’s also just a very cute dress to wear in Summer!
During my recent shopping trips, I’ve noticed alot of 60′s inspired clothes popping up in clothing shops such as Valleygirl, TEMT and Forever New. 60′s fashion must be making a come-back (a very much welcomed one in my opinion, as I think 60′s fashion is very simple and chic)!
I paired this dress with some retro silver lace-up shoes I bought at Novo for only $25! I often see Twiggy wear silver shoes in her modeling photos so I knew these would be perfect!
Twiggy also never over accessories, so all I wore for jewellery was a pair of big silver button earrings from Diva.
Overall, I think this is a really fun look to wear, although it is admittedly not very wearable. It would be a great idea to wear this to a 60′s themed party, you can even add on some subtle drawn-on lower lashes on days when you want big dolly eyes.
This is my last makeup tutorial for the year, featuring a glitzy smokey gold makeup look that is perfect to wear on New Years Eve!
You would expect to be taking lots of photos on New Years Eve, so it is important to wear a foundation which will look good with flash photography. That’s why I used my Revlon PhotoReady foundation paired with the translucent finisher.
This look is all about the eyes, with drama from the smokey eyeshadow and sparkle from the gold glitter. I used shimmery gold and metallic grey shades from my Coastal Scents 88 Warm Palette and Metal Mania Palette to create the smokey eyes, and then layered some gold cosmetic glitter on top. It is always important to make sure that the glitter is cosmetic grade and safe to use around the eyes.
Because we are currently in Summer in Australia, I wanted to give my face a sun-kissed look, so I contoured my cheeks with bronzer. But feel free to use blush instead if you are in Winter. And because we want all the attention to be on the glamourous eyes, I kept my lips understated with a nude lipstick and lipgloss.
I didn’t do much with my hair for this look; I simply sectioned off the middle, twisted it and pinned it at the back with bobby pins.
I paired this makeup look with a kimono-style, gold sequin dress from Bardot. I also wanted to compliment the smokiness of the makeup, so I wore a blue, grey and black jeweled bangle and a pair of clear drop earrings from Diva, and an over-sized jeweled ring. I finished off the look with a pair of patent black peep-toe heels from Tony Bianco.
Just finishing off this post with two close-up photos of the makeup look. I love how the makeup can look smokey at first, but it reveals the glitzy gold underneath when you blink

This collection is designed by internationally renowned makeup artist April Greaves, in collaboration with Bloom Cosmetics. ‘Belle de Jour’ translates to ‘Beauty of the Day’ and is inspired by beautiful actress Catherine Deneuve in the 1967 film of the same name. It’s all about contoured eyes, perfect brows, luminous skin and glossy lips; evoking a feeling of classic, cinematic beauty with a fresh, modern twist.
Below I will review in detail all the products in the collection, including the ‘Super Glossy Lips’, which I don’t actually talk about in the video.
Bloom Eye Brow Duo (Brown) – $25AUD
The Eye Brow Duo features a 2-in-1 brow pencil and brow gel. The pencil is in the shade of brown and has a unique triangular tip that can be angled for precise definition. The clear brow gel on the other end can be brushed on after filling in the brows in order to set them in shape.
I really like the triangular tip of the brow pencil because it makes it much easier to define the end of the brows. I also found the formula to be very long-wearing, especially when paired with the brow gel.
Bloom Eye Crayon (Black) – $25AUD
The Eye Crayon has a creamy, waterproof formula with an inbuilt brush on the end. The shade that I got sent was ‘Black’ although it looks more like dark grey. It can be worn on its own or layered with powder eyeshadow for increased intensity. It’s also available in ‘Taupe’ and ‘Brown’.
I found the chunky crayon to be too thick to use as an eyeliner, so I would use it as a cream eyeshadow instead, as it blends nicely with the brush. It is actually very similar to the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in ‘Slate’ which only costs a fraction of the price, so I wasn’t totally impressed by this product.
Bloom Cream Blush Duo – $38AUD
The Cream Blush Duo features a cream blush and illuminiser in one. The blush is in a peachy, pink shade and is ultra-sheer with a shimmer finish. The illuminiser can be used to highlight the face, brow-bone and the inner corners of the eyes. The formula is enriched with evening Primrose oil, jojoba oil and scented with pure lavender essential oil
This has to be my favourite product from the collection! The formula is so silky smooth and blendable and gives off a beautiful radiant flush on the cheeks. This is the blush version of Bloom’s Cream Bronzing Duo from their previous ‘Gypsy Glamour’ colour collection, the products of which I reviewed earlier in the year (you can watch the video here).
Bloom Lip Duo (Day & Night) – $28AUD
The Lip Duo is a lipstick and lipgloss in one, which can be worn alone or paired together. The shade is a gorgeous berry colour .
There’s not all that much I can say about this particular product, other than I personally love berry-hued lipsticks because I think it’s a flattering colour on me. The colour is very bold and intense when the lipstick and lipgloss is worn together and alone, the lipgloss gives a pretty, sheer wash of colour.
Bloom Super Glossy Lips – $25AUD
This last product in the collection is the Super Glossy Lips, which is essentially a clear lipgloss. I didn’t include it in the video because I found it to be out-of-place since it’s the only product in the collection that is not multifunctional. It can be worn alone or over lipcolour for maximum shine.
It glides on very smoothly and gives off a glossy, vinyl finish without being too sticky. I don’t know if it’s just me but I think that it has a minty smell and feel on the lips. Other than that, I don’t see it to be too different to any other clear gloss.
Overall, I think it’s a unique and innovative collection because of the four multifunctional products (I do find the Super Glossy Lips to be unnecessary). It means you’re paying for two products (albeit a smaller product size) and carrying around less things in your handbag.

Essentially this is a beauty blog where I will be writing about my looks of the day, product reviews, hauls, DIYs and other beauty and fashion related topics. However, I will also be blogging about food, because eating is another passionate hobby of mine (yes I consider eating to be a legitimate hobby! LOL!).
